When most people think of etiquettes they think of the kind of fork to be used at a dinner table or how to shake hands with someone in public, but thinking of etiquettes or manners only in that way is one dimensional and you lose the true essence of the term.

Having good etiquette includes proper conduct that is established by a community for various occasions, including ceremonies, formal events, and everyday life. We at Shivneri boarding school believe in molding and shaping the lives of young children so that when they leave school they will be fully equipped in dealing with the outside world. Here are some general etiquettes that make you a better person.

  • Respect:-

Parents and teachers often make the mistake of teaching their children only the importance of respecting your elders. We at Shivneri boarding school believe that respect should be given to every living and non-living thing around us irrespective of it’s size, gender or social standing. Respecting those around you shows that your child is sensitive towards the pain of others and cares for those around them. We at Shivneri boarding school believe in instilling this value in children at a young age is a crucial step towards helping them grow into individuals that care.https://www.shivnerischool.com/about-us

  • Family:-

Kids spend a vast majority of their day with their classmates and friends who stick with them all through their life. Gone are the days when family would only consist of your blood relatives. These days, your family consists of those that you connect with the most, it consists of those that you value and care for. Shivneri boarding school is not just a school, it’s your child’s home away from home. Here he/she will make friends that will last them a lifetime. Families are an integral part of a kid’s life. It shapes and nurtures them into adults. Understanding the importance of family, sticking with them, helping them in times of need instills integrity and a sense of responsibility in children helping them be better adults.

  • Adjusting and Compromising:-

In life, nobody is blessed with everything. It’s important for children to realize the value of rejections and how they don’t define you. It’s important for children to take rejections with a pinch of salt and not think of rejections as the end of a story but the beginning of something better. All of us have had to make certain adjustments and compromises in life. We at Shivneri boarding school believe that kids who learn the art of compromising and adjusting are much more mindful of the needs of those around them and while there is nothing wrong with chasing your dreams and not compromising on things that matter the most to you, they will have to make certain adjustments and compromises in life.

Being Helpful:-

Service to others is the rent you pay for your room here on earth. – Mohammed Ali.

It’s important for kids to learn the importance of helping those in need. We at Shivneri boarding school believe that to be a functional part of society, it is important that one is empathetic towards the pain of others and their needs. Children must be taught to help others from a young age even if it is to a complete stranger.

Being Helpful
  • Respecting everyone’s religious believes:-

We live in a country that is diverse and while your child follows a certain religion they shouldn’t be disrespecting those who don’t share the same belief system as them. We at Shivenri boarding school have students who comes from various socio economic backgrounds and we know that when children leave school and are put into the real world they will meet others who don’t follow their religion and must be taught the importance of treating everyone equally regardless of who they choose to put their faith in and the festivities they follow.

  • Justice:-

Having a strong moral compass and a sense of justice are two of the most important values that you should imbibe into the minds of young children. It encourages them to speak up without fear towards any injustice they or those that are close to them are facing. Standing up for yourself and seeking for justice means that they won’t just follow instructions blindly boosting their self-confidence along the way.

  • Honesty:

We at Shivneri boarding school believe that honesty is the best policy and even when things become tough as long as they are honest they have the ability to face any hardships that come their way. Being honest to yourself and to others shows integrity and how high their moral compass is.

  • Communicate Effectively:

As teachers and parents it’s our responsibility to instill good manners in children. One way to achieve this is constant communication. Studies have shown that children or adults are more likely to do something when given a valid explanation. We at Shivneri School believe that children should be given the freedom to ask questions and it is our strong belief that no person should follow rules blindly. Explaining “what and why” gives students an innate understanding of the world and they are far more likely to express themselves better without the fear of not being heard or understood.

  • Cultivate love for education:-

Education is the means towards making the world a better place for us to live in. An illiterate country will only grow so much. We at Shivneri boarding school believe that the learning should never stop. If children fall in love with education be it of any field then they will take a keen interest in their own education and will ultimately be in charge of their own future.
